The best unagi bowls in Singapore on our data are Unatoto for a $9.80++ unadon, Unagi Yondaime Kikukawa for a $50++ Ippon Hitsumabushi Set, and Maruhachi for a $12.80 Una Tama Don in a Punggol coffeeshop. Seven more places follow, from a $9 hawker unagi don to a $24.90 Una Tama Don on Orchard Road, with the price on record beside each.
How we chose
We ranked places with a recorded price and an eel bowl as a headline item first, then added chains and tempura shops that serve unagi as one of several bowls. Where a chain sells unagi as one of several bowls, we list the unagi bowl at its own price rather than the chain's signature gyudon or tendon. Closed and unverified listings are left out, and so are hitsumabushi restaurants that have no 2026 price, which are covered below. The price band is the shop's overall band in our directory: $ is a typical bowl under $12, $$ is $12 to $25 and $$$ is over $25. A ++ means service charge and GST are added. Data checked October 2026.
The 10, ranked
1. Unatoto
Area: Novena. Order: Unadon, $9.80++
Charcoal grilled eel at value prices, with a motto of affordable, fast and tasty. At Velocity@Novena Square the double unadon is $15.90++ and unaju boxes start at $13.90++, read from the menu images on its site. The chain's own April 2025 blog gives a Hitsumabushi from $14.50, though the menu may have changed since. Novena opens 11am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 3pm Sunday. It serves pork and is not flagged halal.
2. Unagi Yondaime Kikukawa
Area: Orchard. Order: Ippon Hitsumabushi Set, $50++
Fourth generation master Kikukawa Yuhei grills whole eel over binchotan charcoal at this Shaw Centre flagship, which opened in 2025. The Ippon Hitsumabushi Set comes with wasabi, nori and dashi, and the Kabayaki Ippon Unagi Set and salt grilled Shirayaki set are $48++ each. A second restaurant opened at Raffles City on 1 October 2026 and lists the same prices. It is not halal certified.
3. Maruhachi Donburi and Curry
Area: Punggol. Order: Una Tama Don, $12.80
A kopitiam stall at Edgefield Plains, opened in November 2020 by chef owner August Wijaya and his Japanese wife Yoko. SethLui's 2026 review lists the eel and egg Una Tama Don at $12.80 and a Chicken Katsu Curry at $8.80. It opens from 11am to 9pm daily, with prices a little above usual kopitiam fare.
4. Sukiya
Area: Orchard. Order: Unagi Bowl (Medium), $12.40
Grilled eel in a sweet sauce on Japanese rice, with an Unagi Bowl with Beef at $14.90 that pairs it with the signature simmered beef. Prices are from the chain's own menu in October 2026, GST included and no service charge. The chain is MUIS halal certified. We link 313@Somerset, open daily from 11am to 10:30pm.
5. Yoshinoya
Area: Bugis. Order: Unagi Don, $13.40
Grilled eel with sweet sauce on rice, plus an Unagi Salmon Don at $14.90, an Unagi Beef Don at $15.90 and an Ontama Unagi Don at $16.90. Prices are from the October 2026 menu, and every Singapore outlet is MUIS halal certified. We link Bugis Junction, a basement counter open from 10am to 9:30pm.
6. Tora-San
Area: Orchard. Order: Una Tama Don, $24.90
A thick slice of unagi and tamago on house braised rice with charcoal kabayaki sauce, which the menu marks as its number one seller. The plainer Unagi Don with mentai tamago, onsen egg and tobiko is $18.90. These are online ordering prices read in October 2026, and the shop is mostly known for chirashi. 7. Tempura Tsukiji Tenka
Area: Orchard. Order: Unagi Tendon, $22
Tempura and eel in one bowl, on level 4 of Wisma Atria. SethLui's 12 August 2026 listing is the source for the price and for the hours, 11am to 10pm daily. It is a tendon specialist first, so treat the unagi as a premium add on rather than the main act.
8. Tempura TenTen
Area: City Hall. Order: Unatendon, $19.80
A tempura rice bowl and ramen shop in the Raffles City basement that pairs tempura with grilled eel in its Unatendon. A swap to truffle rice costs $1. The listing is from SethLui in August 2026, and the shop opens 11am to 10pm every day.
9. Liu Kou Shui Woodleigh Village
Area: Serangoon. Order: Unagi Don, $9
The second Liu Kou Shui stall, at Woodleigh Village Hawker Centre in the Bidadari area. Eatbook's March 2025 review singled out the unagi don and the mentaiko fries, and the stall also sells a Caramelised Char Siew Don at $7, so it serves pork. The source is older than most here, and Wednesday hours are not stated, so confirm before you go.
10. Haru-Haru
Area: Bugis. Order: Unagi Don, $13.90
A stall at Shifu Food Court in Bras Basah Complex, run by an ex izakaya head chef and built around mentaiko. Eatbook's November 2025 review lists the Unagi Don at $13.90, a Mentai Pork Katsu Don at $9.90 and a Chicken Katsu Curry at $9.90. It is a six minute walk from City Hall MRT and opens 11am to 9:30pm daily.

Choosing between value, chain and restaurant
If you want eel on a budget, start with Unatoto, Maruhachi or Liu Kou Shui, where the plain bowl is under $13. If you need halal, Sukiya and Yoshinoya are the certified answer and both sell an unagi bowl. If you want an occasion, the whole eel sets at Kikukawa cost $48++ to $50++, and the $24.90 Una Tama Don at Tora-San sits in between. Remember that a ++ price grows at the till: the $9.80++ unadon at Unatoto comes to close to $12 once service charge and GST are added.
Hitsumabushi and the places we left out
Hitsumabushi is the Nagoya style of eel rice, eaten three ways: plain, with condiments, then as tea with dashi. Kikukawa and Unatoto are the two ranked places with a recorded hitsumabushi price. Man Man Unagi at Clarke Quay Central, Uya at Wheelock Place and Una Una at Bugis+ also serve it, but we have no verified 2026 prices for them, so they are not ranked. Check their current menus before you go.
