The best tendon in Singapore on our data starts with Tenya for a $10.60++ Tenya Tendon, TendonGo! for a $9.80 regular bowl on Napier Road that opens at 7am, and Akimitsu for a $14.90 Signature Tendon from an Asakusa tempura house. Seven more places follow, from a $5 hawker bowl to a $22 unagi tendon at Wisma Atria, each with the bowl to order and its price on record.
How we chose
We put places with a recorded 2026 price and a clear signature bowl first, then ranked by value and by how central tempura is to the menu. Most prices come from the chains' own menus or from SethLui's August 2026 round up, and the one older source is flagged in its entry. Tendon Kohaku is left off because we found no 2026 menu, only a 2025 third party price, and Butahage sells a $9.50 tendon on a 2023 to 2025 price record. The price band is the shop's overall band in our directory: $ is a typical bowl under $12, $$ is $12 to $25 and $$$ is over $25. A ++ means service charge and GST are added. Data checked October 2026.
The 10, ranked
1. Tenya
Area: Katong. Order: Tenya Tendon, $10.60++
Founded in 1989 at the Yaesu mall in Tokyo Station, Tenya glazes tempura prawn, Japanese whiting, squid, pumpkin and French beans in a sweet soy tare. Singapore has four outlets, at Orchard Central, ION Orchard, Parkway Parade and Hillion Mall, and we link Parkway Parade. The Premium Tendon with two prawns is $14.60++ and the Vegetables Tendon is $10.00++, from the chain's own online store in October 2026. Its delivery menu runs higher.
2. TendonGo!
Area: Tanglin. Order: Regular Tendon, $9.80
A counter on level 2 of Gleneagles Hospital that sells tempura bowls in three sizes: Light at $8.80, Regular at $9.80 and Mega at $11.80. SethLui's August 2026 round up names it the most affordable tendon on its list, with ingredients sourced from Japanese farms. It opens from 7am to 10pm every day, earlier than most tendon shops.
3. Akimitsu
Area: Orchard. Order: Signature Tendon, $14.90
The Singapore outlet of Shitamatchi Tendon Akimitsu, a tempura restaurant from Asakusa, Tokyo with more than 128 years of history. At Plaza Singapura level 4 the Ebi Tendon is $17.90 and the Vegetable Tendon is $12.90. Reviewers note the whitefish stays fluffy inside the batter. It is open daily from 11:30am to 10pm.
4. Tempura Tsukiji Tenka
Area: Orchard. Order: Unagi Tendon, $22
The first Singapore restaurant opened by the Tokyo Sushi Academy, on level 4 of Wisma Atria. The range starts at the Kakiagedon for $11.80, and the Unagi Tendon pairs tempura with grilled eel. Sets can add chawanmushi and miso soup. Hours and prices are from SethLui's 12 August 2026 listing, and it opens 11am to 10pm daily.
5. Don Meijin
Area: Bugis. Order: Spicy Chili Crab Tendon, $14.80
A stall inside the Ramen Champion food hall on level 4 of Bugis+. Short grain rice is topped with tempura asparagus, pumpkin, fish fillet, eggplant, vegetables and prawns, then finished with local sauces, including homemade chilli crab at $14.80 and golden salted egg at $16. The menu also lists a Soft Shell Crab Don and an Unagi Katsu Don without published prices.
6. Tempura TenTen
Area: City Hall. Order: Premium King Prawn Tendon, $19.80
A tempura rice bowl and ramen shop in the Raffles City basement. The prawns are from Kagoshima, the Unatendon pairs tempura with grilled eel at $19.80, and a swap to truffle rice costs $1. Yuzu pepper sauce is available for a sharper finish. It opens 11am to 10pm daily, per SethLui in August 2026.
7. Niku Kappo
Area: Orchard. Order: Niku Tendon, $12.90
A beef centred kappo restaurant in the ION Orchard basement whose tendon swaps the usual prawns for pork and chicken tempura, so it is not a pork free choice. Only one bowl price is published, which makes it one of the lower priced tempura bowls on Orchard Road. It is open 11:30am to 10pm daily.
8. Tokyo Shokudo
Area: Tampines. Order: Signature Tendon, $18
A Japan Foods Holding concept on level 4 of Tampines Mall. SethLui's Tampines guide describes it as halal certified with a no pork and no lard recipe, so confirm the certificate before you rely on it. The Signature Tendon has prawn, fish, egg, nori and vegetables with a choice of signature or spicy sauce. It opens daily from 11:30am to 10pm.
9. Nasi Coco
Area: Bedok. Order: Nasi Coco Supreme, $12.90
Japanese tempura served on a coconut rice base, a blend of tendon and nasi lemak that SethLui picked as one of the more unusual tendon spots in August 2026. It is on level 2 of Bedok Point and opens 11am to 10pm every day. Only this one price is published and halal status is not stated.
10. Konomi Zen
Area: Ang Mo Kio. Order: Tendon, $5
A hawker stall in Ang Mo Kio 628 Market and Food Centre serving seafood and vegetable tempura on rice, topped with tempura bits for extra crunch. Price and hours are from a November 2025 Eatbook guide, so this is the oldest source on the list. It is open Tuesday to Friday, 11am to 2pm and 4:30pm to 7pm.

Planning your visit
Hours are the main trap. TendonGo! is the early option, opening at 7am, while Konomi Zen is a hawker stall listed for Tuesday to Friday only, with a break between 2pm and 4:30pm. Tenya prices are before service charge and GST, so the $10.60++ bowl costs about 20 percent more at the till, and most of our other sources do not say how they treat the extras. If you avoid pork, skip Niku Kappo, and if you want certified food, check the Tokyo Shokudo certificate in person before you order.
What a good tendon bowl looks like
Tendon is short for tempura donburi: tempura over rice, finished with a sweet soy tare. The prawn is the usual anchor, and the cheaper bowls fill the gap with vegetables, squid or whitefish. Check the size before you compare prices, since TendonGo! sells three sizes and Tenya sells several toppings at different prices. If you want to compare the big names, see our chain comparison, and for the history of the dish read the tendon guide.
